Personalized Name Plaques and a Family Visit

My very good friend, Jenny is having her first baby in about 10 minutes.

Jen is the momma on the left

Seriously, she was due a few days ago but is still pregnant. She’s one of those friends that always gives the best gifts so I did not want to disappoint! …especially since she is naming her baby after ME! (How exciting!)

Baby Sarah has two older half-sisters. Once she’s older, they’ll all share the same room so I came up with the idea of making name plaques for all of the girls.

Hey, it’s tough being an older sibling when a new baby comes along. I’m the older sister to four younger brothers – I know all about it. Bitter? Oh no, not me ;)

I’m just sayin’ … It’s nice when the older ones get goodies, too.

I found the perfect size plaques at Walmart. They were printed with “Faith,” “Hope,” and “Love.”

The room colors are purple, green, and chocolate brown. So, I found some matching scrapbook paper to cover the original design. I then went to DaFont for free fonts and typed in the girls’ names. I ended up using a combination of several fonts along with my own handwriting and just freehanded the letters. Each girl’s plaque has her name and a small picture.

I wanted a little more glitz so I broke out the old sparkly glitter.

I’ve had this stuff for AGES! I bought it as a teenager from Ames (yes, AMES! I said I've had it a while.) when I was all into decorating my nails.

Finally I hot glued a matching ribbon on the back and then glued a bow at the top.

These were done last week but I’ve been holding off until Jenny received them first. She got them yesterday and loves them so here they are:

And speaking of younger siblings, one of mine came to visit this week. There wasn’t much time for blogging so I’ve been a little MIA. The kids had a blast with their uncle. He had never seen a field of bluebonnets so we all went for a photo shoot.

...and I had to get the camera for the tea party... hehehe
